The Yellow Wallpaper and other stories by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

The Yellow Wallpaper is one of the book club selections - the story alone. I had never heard of Charlotte Perkins Gillman before the suggestion. Charlotte Perkins Gillman was an American social reformer, and one of the earliest feminists. The Yellow Wallpaper is about a woman who is dealing with mental health. She is in a room with Yellow Wallpaper and she gets bored and imagines all kinds of things. The stories were written in the early 1900s.
Three Thanksgivings is about a woman who does not want to go and live with her children and turns her home into a venue for women to meet up. The Cottagette is a love story with a difference in which the hero asks the heroine not to give up her art and so and not to cook. Turned is about adultery . If I Were a Man is about Mollie Mathewson turning into her husband.. kind of Metamorphosis but with some discussions about men and women and the perceptions of each other. My favourite story.. Mr Pebbles' Heart is about Arthur who is rescued by his sister-in-law and ".. went away, leaving  a stout dull woman.." and who returned "..younger, stronger, thinner, an alert vigorous man with a mind enlarged, refreshed, stimulated. "

I enjoyed reading these stories. Light and 'charming' but with some interesting twists.
