Carrot Juice via Jamaica, Mexico, Malaysia, Grenada and Guyana
Vees, Jamaican Restaurant on Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn, New York and the man told us that the Carrot Juice is made with carrots pressed out good, sweet milk, nutmeg and at Christmas, rum. I had two then and sort of followed the Cook like a Jamaican recipe
Ingredients
2 lbs Carrots (from Mexico, at Bourda Market, $100 a pound, not sure why because the ones from Costa Rica were $140 a pound and upwards )
1 tin Condensed Milk (from Malaysia.. sugar, milk solids, palm oil and who knows what other toxins embedded in the source of the milk solids )
Nutmeg (I thing from Grenada)
Ginger (from Guyana )
Method
1. Peel and blend carrots with 4 or 5 cups of water. Strain the juice. Keep some of the wrung out grated carrot to mix with the remaining condensed milk.
2. Mix in ginger and nutmeg to spice up.
3. Stir in about 1/2 tin of the condensed milk, then gradually add more to taste. You will not use the whole tin.
4. Put juice in the fridge.
5. Mix the remaining condensed milk with the grated carrot .. this is delicious too.
