Man questions...

Dr Peter Weller from CARIMAN asked what are the research gaps for masculinity to help with the gender equality work. This is happening at the same time that Guyana's minister of health bherri ramsarran threatens to slap up a woman who asked him about his record on maternal health and claims provocation as his defence and there are men who are encouraged by the misogyny.

My questions for answers :-

Why are men dyeing their hair? Are they afraid of aging and there is no respect for gray hairs of older men? Why are men using viagra? Why are men cheating on women they marry? Why promise monogamy when you know you not built like that? What drives men to chop, rape, stab, shoot women and other men? How do three young men plan to kill and chop up a woman and dispose of her parts - and one of them wants to move to a jail near his family because his family will visit him?

How are men experiencing gender changes? Are the men who comb their daughter's hair and cook any less sexist than the men who hustle women on the road? Why the sexual harassment on the road? What do the men who are bystanders think as they watch the misogny?  What's happening with the men who like men? What's happening with the men who don't like the men who like men?
How are men dealing with mental health? How are men dealing with physical health? How are men dealing with spirituality?
What are the secrets of the men who love women without hating them? What are the secrets of the men who love men without hating  them?

How are men dealing with aches and pains in the body?
Why are men drinking alcohol even though it not good for them? What difference will it make to men that ganja might be legalised?

How can the men who don't know to read and write, learn to read and write? How can the men who know how to read and write work with , inspire, be inspired by men who don't know how to read and write?

What's happening with men with disabilities?

How can men liberate themselves?

  1. Why do you think these questions only apply to men?

  2. The context was about research for masculinity. Definitely, questions related to the continued liberation of women also have to be asked and thought through and there will be similar questions, though no doubt different answers across the human spectrum.

  3. I'm starting to decide, gender is a spectrum. But that is not really my speciality.

  4. Oh... i think all human beings are experts at gender in that each one of us have our ways in which we perform gender roles, and even transgress them.. but yes.. it is not a binary.. there is a spectrum

    1. Hey Zami would it be this post http://blindgambit.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-non-violent-man.html .. I hope that your friend is safe. and Non violence does not mean not having self defence! Gandhi I think talked about self defense and use of violence.. if V is turning the other cheek, well he has to know if he is being exposed to harm.. complicated.. all up to V and understanding what V's strategy I think is for survival in the work place. Film it and report to the manager, Ministry of Labour?

  6. In Trinidad, yeah right.
And in the past, manager's are useless and turn a blind eye.
Situation is complicated. I passed on to Colin.

But this is an exception... see my other post
