My racial and homophobic frenz...

I know that I am not prejudiced because I have racial frenz, and I have homophobic frenz.

During this elections I have seen how the racism and the homophobia have triumphed.  Many of my frenz  who voted PPP feel that those who voted for APNU are racial; and many of my frenz who voted APNU feel that the PPP and all those who support the PPP are racial too. Those of my frenz in the AFC feel that those who voted for either the PPP or APNU are racial. We all probably have our stereotypes, bad experiences, good experiences, prejudices, and assumptions based on race - and it is interesting to see how those prejudices emerged during the elections season.  Among my racial frenz though, it was good to see that many tried to withdraw and change the meaning of their statements when they read what they wrote. Such is the nature of prejudices,, sometimes we have to express them, reflect on them , get feedback and decide what to do with them.
I aspire to integrity - I mean.. I like people to know how I think (or bore and exhaust them with what I think ). I like my homophobic frenz who are consistent in their homophobia.. they say plainly they dont like battyman and they dont like this and they bring the blood of Jesus or Fyah and so down.. and some of them change when they realise the stupidness they talking. Some are nicer.. they want the homosexuals to change and then end up liking the homosexuals who they trying to change.

The other kind of homophobia though.. the one which is from people who say they all for LGBT rights and so on, but yet by their silences and the limitation of their actions - they  quietly endorse the homophobia. I remember a man who when asked, who was paid with money to advance the rights of LGBT citizens.. said to me that he did not support SASOD's agenda and that he had his own 'Christian morals'  - Those frenz terrify me.

Homophobia is now entrenched and rewarded in the PPP/C - with the appointment of Mr Edghill in Mr Ramotaur's government. Mr Edghill has used his religiosity and abused his powers to condemn SASOD.

And Facebook good..
'Congratulations HE President', Congratulations Our new leader, Congratulations President.. Congratulations Mr President.. Congratulations for ensuring that you will continue to perpetrate the injustices which we are scared of speaking out about.

I watch in amazement as the young atheist who friken to write letters to the paper because her family might be persecuted. She is concerned about the rights of gay and lesbian people but she still went and worshipped at the altar at which homophobia is rewarded . The other atheist youngster- who friken to expose himself he said.. also worshipping at the altar where religious homophobia has been rewarded.

So as the struggle evolves.. another young man who friken bad.. and I tried to empathise with that fear which is imprisoned by work, reputation, access to money.. also went and worship at the altar of the thing which makes him afraid to speak out.

Another young lesbian said she could not sign a letter -  she is surviving and some of her customers would be lost if they know she signing letter about anything controversial

She like my other  homophobic frenz, have a right to choose how they will survive... Audre Lorde though below reminds us.. we were never meant to survive.

Audre Lorde..

“A Litany for Survival

For those of us who live at the shoreline
standing upon the constant edges of decision
crucial and alone
for those of us who cannot indulge
the passing dreams of choice
who love in doorways coming and going
in the hours between dawns
looking inward and outward
at once before and after
seeking a now that can breed
futures
like bread in our children's mouths
so their dreams will not reflect
the death of ours:

For those of us
who were imprinted with fear
like a faint line in the center of our foreheads
learning to be afraid with our mother's milk
for by this weapon
this illusion of some safety to be found
the heavy-footed hoped to silence us
For all of us
this instant and this triumph
We were never meant to survive.

And when the sun rises we are afraid
it might not remain
when the sun sets we are afraid
it might not rise in the morning
when our stomachs are full we are afraid
of indigestion
when our stomachs are empty we are afraid
we may never eat again
when we are loved we are afraid
love will vanish
when we are alone we are afraid
love will never return
and when we speak we are afraid
our words will not be heard
nor welcomed
but when we are silent
we are still afraid
So it is better to speak
remembering
we were never meant to survive.”
