The bus driver was cussing up loud, she ... sk.**t, and the conductor was going eh heh, eh heh. I was the only passenger.. the driver turn to me and say that . you know, some man does have woman in dey house who is krass.. I look back wid bland face..
the man cuss up, leh she s..t tek the same taxi fuh come back dat she tek fuh lef.. i aint want nuttin;..
The man had the pictures of Durga and Laxmi behind his steering wheel. I paid the fare, and as I was coming out I said man, instead of cussing the woman, why you don't just tell the woman 'ram ram' and leh she guh lang she way, that you are not in such desperate need of her that you have to hold on to her. I said that woman you cussing is the manifestation of the Durga and laxmi behind the steering wheel. The man faced look shock.. and then he smile.. he seh arite arite.. I was scared that he might have ripped the pictures down as well
I watch how Ansa Mcal use Konshens and two women to push the idea of possession, that you gotta hold yuh woman (and keep a spare or two) close and then fight up , that love is supposed to be about ownership and that when one partner chooses to leave, that is about this challenge to ownership rather than the fact that you cannot make it together.
No bill board anywhere, to tell men and women that love does not have to mean jealous possession.. that when the Bhagvad Gita talks about how greed and desire bring the sorrow and anger, it also means that greed and desire to own a person in this love thing. There will be no bill boards or campaigns to talk about healthy relationships which are not based on intense need for a 'relationship' but on trying to enhance one's life with making spiritual connections with people. Those billboards cost more than Help & Shelter and other organisations could ever beg for to reverse the trend when the men move from cussing the women to beating and then killing them. No money is the cry when you hear that Linden wants a crisis centre and shelter there. No money is the cry when you hear that ongoing support is needed for hinterland communities to deal with domestic violence in a systematic way.
Who will tell men that you are responsible for your own destinies and that no woman (or man) could krass yuh? Loving someone else does not mean weakness on your part, that you have to lose yourself in the loving.. and is arite, if she lef you.. it mean that you and she aint had the same expectation of each other and that you cannot fulfill hers or you not fulfilling hers..
