Another amazing sunset..

Today there was another amazing sunset and I was fortunate to see it. The heat during the day has some pay back probably in that the sunsets could be spectacular. Today, the pink purple hues were not only in the East but above, in the sky. No point taking pictures, you would have to be an excellent photographer to get the whole vista.

To see the sunset, you have to keep your head high. The seawall in Georgetown is a blessing. if you can keep your eyes above the rubbish and breathe in the fresh air rather than the stink of carcasses thrown over the wall, then it is easy to enjoy the sea wall. One of the easiest cures for melancholy is to get up and get out there, even when you feel that you are too tired to do that. And just moving against the breeze, or with the sea, helps to change the serotonin levels and lifts the spirits. And it is difficult to remain depressed if the skies are changing colours and you have to raise your head. So I was able to lift my spirits.
Brisk walking is good, walking fast enough to pant a bit. Those who can still run would enjoy the adrenalin rush.. thing is with running, it is over much faster unless you run up and down and then it becomes repetitive.

Hindus worship the sun as Surya. Our worship is focussed on sun rise. The surya namaskar is a sequence of yoga postures to greet the sun. If the tide is out, you can pick your way among the rubbish and find a clean spot on the seawall to do yoga.
I have done that twice, on the seawall. It is not always practical, but it feels good to have the breeze on  your skin while stretching and if there is an early moon rise, it adds to the mood. One or two people might look at you as though you are mad.. but the nice thing with the seawall in Guyana, it is democratic and there are people who are on it with the full spectrum of sanity.
The walk was good, and after the yoga routine and dinner, my favourite banana milk shake - a bunch of bananas ripening at the same time so banana will be in everything for a day or two.

Banana Milk Shake

1 glass cold milk and two ice cubes
or 1/4 glass evaporated milk, 1/2 glass cold water and 4 ice cubs
1 or two bananas

dash cinammon, vanilla essence
(maybe some peanut butter)

Blend until ice cubes are crushed. Pour into larger glass. Drink slowly and savour while frothy.
