Apricot face scrub, peppermint oil, sweet

Image
Face scrub My mother had some face scrub thing which she was not using , so I started using it once a week. It left my face feeling nice after using it. I went out and bought another one.. I dont think I need to scrub my face.. but it feels nice to rub up and scrub up behind the ears and the neck and so on.. and wash out. I could imagine on elbows, knees, foot bottom, well anywhere. I could imagine that my skin is being damaged but it feel nice. Yeah.. metrosexual me. Peppermint oil The energy is often not there to breathe, and the wild thoughts are there and cannot slow down. So I keep dabbing pepper mint oil on my neck to smell it.. as though to help breathing. In the night, I think the pepper mint oil though gives me bad dreams.. or the dreams are from the images which I cannot suppress. Wanting to sleep for a long time , unconscious A man called at 7am - he want to make films and he asked if I am not up as yet.. Hindus get up before the sun. I have been awake.. fighting

Solitude in crowds on the street..

A friend said he found solitude on the crowded streets of New York and he wished me the same. I am yearning for the dark cool room to go lie down or sit down in to wait until the time passes. There is no dark room in my house. There is a feeling of being on the brink again.. of fighting and struggling to do normal things without getting to invested in the manic energies around. The sounds seem kind of shrill so it is not a matter of not hearing them, but trying to get the mind to work around them. It was good the  high breeze the other night.. cold night breeze feeling good on the face which had some tears on it.. like washing your face with cold water.. but the high winds kind of around you and taking away the thoughts from you while you stand still.  I like the seawall when the skies are grey and I have walked in rain with thunder and lightning.   Some things take long to do.. but I did them one at a time. I can function and that is the check, to function. Season of goodwill

The family spinster

Many families have a spinster - and the spinster plays an important role in preserving those traditional family values and structures. The spinster learns from a young age that they are responsible for holding the family together. When in times of anger and quarrels and in the aftermath.. the child spinster tries to be peacemaker and to ensure that everyone is okay. The child spinster learns early how the warning signs of conflict and keeps listening out. Always on the alert. The child might try to escape some of the times by daydreaming and fantasising about a time when they could live alone without any problems. The child spinster also vows not to get married since it seems to be such a stressful thing. People outside the family say the child spinster is a good child. The child spinster grows into the adult spinster. However, the child spinster feels obligated. The adult spinster learns religion and that children should do for their parents and family. As the parents get older,

Strong minds, alcohol , violence and free choice

I asked a  Facebook fren, 26 year old man  , to read the letter I had written about the irresponsible alcohol advertising  and the sexist campaigns. He was good to give me a response .. and I appreciate his time.. hey gd morning. i read the letter. My view goes a little something like this. we as human beings have minds of our own. if we allow people (advertisers) to manipulate us..then in my view u r weak. im sure every television now has a remote....if something is showing and u dont want to look at it ..what do u do ? u change it right ? good...well same thing goes for advertisements. i think it has been proven that sex sells. i agree with that. we livin in a an age where everything is so different from the previous generations...and as time continues to move forward more things will change and so will people's attitude and behavior... secondly..... i drink alot.. i love beers partying...but thta doesnt mean because i drink it has a negative impact on my family

Being angry at and afraid of PPP and APNU..

Image
"Are you afraid" my colleague had asked me.   We were standing in 2001, on Brickdam witnessing a PNC march.  I was not sure what to reply to her - she had been a supporter of the PNC.. I told her 'not now, but sometimes'. The racial violence in the history of Guyana is always there in history, and it has manifested itself around elections time. Today, Ravi Dev in his column , Same Ole, Same Ole talks about  how the APNU is resorting to the tactics of street politics to deal with issues which were not solved by the ballot box. When this threat of violence surfaces, 'indians' like me who have rejected the PPP are caught between mobilising support to reject the PPP and their actions, while also condemning or cussing up and wondering whether the city/country would be closed down by peaceful protests which get out of hand as has happened in the past. I have been avoiding discussion about the elections with many people, especially 'indian' people. T

the barbers, Obama, gays, God and humans

Image
The last time I was in the barber shop, the barbers started talking about how they hear that Guyana have to enforce gay rights. It was the two barbers, me, another customer on the chair, and another man waiting. The barbers had several concerns about gay rights.. one was concerned that it would mean that a man could feel him up, and he could do nothing about it. He also said that gay rights will make the gay men come out more, make them more bold and he did not want no big strong man ssiping him off. I said ah,, you must understand what women must feel like. He said yeah, yeah -  he does not agree with what happens. He said that it is against the Bible.. so I ask him if follows the bible all the time - he said no.. he said that problems will come to Guyana if Gay rights come on.the customer say he aint got no problems with nobody. I ask the barber about what about Brazil, US, Canada, Europe.. he say that them countries have Earthquake and financial crisis and nuff nuff disaster.. G

My racial and homophobic frenz...

I know that I am not prejudiced because I have racial frenz, and I have homophobic frenz. During this elections I have seen how the racism and the homophobia have triumphed.  Many of my frenz  who voted PPP feel that those who voted for APNU are racial; and many of my frenz who voted APNU feel that the PPP and all those who support the PPP are racial too. Those of my frenz in the AFC feel that those who voted for either the PPP or APNU are racial. We all probably have our stereotypes, bad experiences, good experiences, prejudices, and assumptions based on race - and it is interesting to see how those prejudices emerged during the elections season.  Among my racial frenz though, it was good to see that many tried to withdraw and change the meaning of their statements when they read what they wrote. Such is the nature of prejudices,, sometimes we have to express them, reflect on them , get feedback and decide what to do with them. I aspire to integrity - I mean.. I like people to kno

If I am elected President, I dougla donald do swear

to uphold the constitution and I do declare that 1. I am glad that I do not have to suffer through parliament ever ever ever again 2. starting with the swearing in ceremony and my commitment to change, to serve whole wheat biscuit and coffee/swank to start the diet 3. Instead of a victory rally, I will join with others in walkathon from Georgetown to Buxton and back.. so when people hear march from Buxton they will come out and join for health and well being. 4. I will trim the cabinet. I will preserve the legacy of Pa, the father of the nation who when he became President in 1992, had a flatter belly than mine all through his term. I declare that all Cabinet members - men and women, must have a waist size which is smaller than or equal to Pa's waist size.  5. I will no longer go to New Thriving or any other Thriving Chinese establishment to eat. I will ask Comrade Clement for some of his cornflakes instead. 6. I will ban airconditioning from my vehicles and offices,
